EgyptAir Flight 804 was an international passenger flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Cairo International Airport, operated by EgyptAir. It crashed into the Mediterranean Sea on May 19, 2016.

Smoke or fog was detected in one of the aircraft's lavatories and in the avionics bay shortly before it disappeared from radar. No emergency call was received by air traffic control. Experts are investigating the cause of the disaster.

There were 66 people on board: 56 passengers, 7 aircrew, and 3 security personnel. A multinational search and recovery operation is under way. Wreckage of the aircraft was found in the Mediterranean Sea, approximately 290 km north of Alexandria, Egypt.

Shortly after the disappearance, France began an investigation of whether there had been a security breach at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. In November 2015, the security clearances of some Charles de Gaulle Airport staff were revoked after investigators found possible links to extremist groups.
